A New Picture of the Biblical Ekklesia (Part 3)

We are talking about what I hear the Lord prophetically saying about "the new wine skin" that can now truly accommodate the biblical Ekklesia.

The new picture of the Biblical Ekklesia that I see is where the community around us truly sees and experiences a community of believers where "biblical koinonia", love between believers, and being there for one another is the way of life, 24/7.

How are they going to see it?

They will see what was seen and experienced in Jerusalem and other towns from May 30 AD, after the day of Pentecost, as we read about in the Book of Acts.

Yes, they will see and experience how we practically love each other and are willing to share everything, except our spouses!

Listen to how Acts 2 and 4 describe all of this.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

And: “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.”

Need I tell you how the Ekklesia became a deliberate and focused part of the communities in which the Lord set them down, to be there between them all the time on the lookout for what the real needs around them were and then listened very sensitively to how the Lord wanted to use them to minister supernaturally to those needs.

Furthermore, they sensitively waited for open doors, hearts, and opportunities to witness the Good News of the Kingdom of God that had also arrived for these people and this community.

In a world demonically driven and manipulated by a spirit of greed, egos, and fear, the Lord will use us as 1 Thess. 5 says, to demonstrate a new, better way and style of life there in the community.

Listen to what Jesus said in this regard.

He said He is placing the Ekklesia literally on the doorstep of hell!

With the promise and knowledge in their hearts that the God who put them there, promised as Jesus said to Peter in Mat. 16: "Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." "Happy are you, Simon Barjona," Jesus told him, "w

“Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

In Matthew 5, Jesus said that the Ekklesia within this new wine skin, will be this Light and this City on the mountain:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

So, we will have opportunities again and again to oppose the demonic spirits head-on in the name of Jesus. He will use us to minister and address distress, hurt, trauma, broken relationships, and even poverty and its roots, in the name and with the power of our King.

Therefore, within this new wineskin, we cannot be at peace with all the unscriptural teachings, traditions, and demonically driven divisions in the “CAU” (church around us) where the enemy has God’s people still in its claws in all sorts of ways, and where believing people are still his instruments to block and stop what God wants to do.

Because this new wineskin is so revolutionarily new and different, it won't do any good to try to repair or renew the existing man-made church structures. No, it will require a radical paradigm shift where we allow God to serve us "new wine" through His Word and Spirit and we start drinking it!

The rest, of course, will follow automatically through the working of the Spirit.
